I have to agree with all the advice that was given on this post. I try to meet twice or at least once a week with returning veterans that come to the Ft. Sam Houston or other military medical units. One thing I have found is that OUR own Vietnam service has provided is the recognition of problems with PTSD.

So many of these veterans I meet have missing limbs or horrific burns but I have yet to meet one depressed over his/her condition but willing to heal and carry on. I pray that it is because of the advanced PTSD therapy that they are receiving. Hopefully they will not have such severe problems that so many previous veterans have had and more hopefully that they not have ANY problems at all.

I was fortunate to have been accepted into the VFW my dad belonged to back in �68 . . . BEFORE the War even ended! I�ve been a life member ever since and as for support or advice or many of the rare places I feel comfortable at, I�d recommend it to any returning veteran. So many VFW�s unfortunately shunned the Vietnam veteran when they began returning home and I was lucky that I found one that accepted us with open arms and support. We continue with that same �open arms� theory to this day and as the warriors before us began to wear down we accept the younger veterans to carry on with a very proud and active organization. . . . . . . . . .
