Rochelle and Elizabeth,

One of the things I�ve learned through my 60 years of life is that is okay to face death because it gives you an even chance to fight him/her off. It�s when �it� sneaks up behind you and cheats you of an even fight that is scary. I �crossed� over twice in my life and believe me, I wanted to stay but for some reason wasn�t allowed. I just continue to search out why I was chosen to stay on this side.

All I know about writing is putting down what goes through my head. I never had any special writing classes and actually dropped out of HS in my junior year because of boredom . . . but an �A� student. In the 60�s it wasn�t as it is now. If you excelled in a class, you weren�t moved up but stayed in the same class, which I can only assume contributed to my boredom and going into the Army.

You say you would have given up if you had been in my place but I sincerely doubt it. The spirit to live and fight on is stronger than you think. There is nowhere better than to experience this than in combat and if I had a choice to change my past . . . I would NEVER do it!

I take it as an extreme compliment when anyone says they have learned or educated themselves by something that I have written or said. Perhaps, this was the goal that was intended for me when I was chosen to stay on �this� side. . . . . . . Thank you guys for writing/GB . . . . . . Beanie
