Rochelle and Elizabeth,

One of the things I’ve learned through my 60 years of life is that is okay to face death because it gives you an even chance to fight him/her off. It’s when “it” sneaks up behind you and cheats you of an even fight that is scary. I “crossed” over twice in my life and believe me, I wanted to stay but for some reason wasn’t allowed. I just continue to search out why I was chosen to stay on this side.

All I know about writing is putting down what goes through my head. I never had any special writing classes and actually dropped out of HS in my junior year because of boredom . . . but an “A” student. In the 60’s it wasn’t as it is now. If you excelled in a class, you weren’t moved up but stayed in the same class, which I can only assume contributed to my boredom and going into the Army.

You say you would have given up if you had been in my place but I sincerely doubt it. The spirit to live and fight on is stronger than you think. There is nowhere better than to experience this than in combat and if I had a choice to change my past . . . I would NEVER do it!

I take it as an extreme compliment when anyone says they have learned or educated themselves by something that I have written or said. Perhaps, this was the goal that was intended for me when I was chosen to stay on “this” side. . . . . . . Thank you guys for writing/GB . . . . . . Beanie
