Jane is often excused as just a "young" person making bad judgements. Jane was almost thirty four years old when she went to Vietnam. It's a little bit past the young period. Were soldiers in the field in Vietnam concerned about Jane or others like her? I never heard one comment. They could have cared less, they had real problems to deal with. In retrospect it is evident that she helped the cause of North Vietnam. In doing so she and others using her tactics added many names to the Wall in DC, in my opinion.
Many in America support her, of course the vast majority of men eligible to go to Vietnam didn't, they went to their induction exam on drugs without sleeping for days to get their blood pressure up. They purposefully injured themselves (joints etc) so as not to qualify for induction. They went to college because Daddy had the money and they had other plans than risking their "precious" self. They did many things, I saw some of it personally. To this day you'll still find these vast numbers of people demeaning Vietnam Vets while singing the praises of Jane and others. Ever wonder why they do that? They're making a case for ...........themselves.
