Howdy Brian;

I did a little more reseach on this one, and discovered a post by a Mr. Minh Hoang Nguyen on the Military.com website under 3rd Bn, 38th Field Artillery Regiment who is looking for his father, a SGT Bill who was an African-American, and who had a relationship with a Ms. Cuu Thi Nguyen in late 1969 which resulted in Mr. Nguyen's birth on 6/20/70. Mr. Nguyen went further and stated that his father was stationed at Hoa Vinh, Tung Son.

OK, I've got some major problems with that. 1) Da Nang was in Quang Nam Province but today it is separate municipality. There is no Vietnamese Province with the name of "Tung Son" either today nor in the past. 2) There is a town called "Hoa Vang" at the southern edge of Da Nang, but I cannot find a town called "Hoa Vinh" anywhere near close to Da Nang. 3) Although there is a 3rd Bn/38th Arty, I can find no record of it as ever having served in Vietnam and I have checked no less than two rather complete lists of the order-of-battle of the U.S. Army's artillery units which served in Vietnam.

Somebody needs to be more accurate here and it isn't me. I'll try to reunite people who were divided by the War in Vietnam, but I need more reliable information.
