Howdy JD;

Congratulations on your son graduating from Naval Training! I have no kids of my own, but I do have a nephew who is currently a sergeant in the USMC with A/1st/5th Marines. At least these days even the peaceniks support the troops. I graduated from Basic and Advanced Infantry Training in late 1968 at Fort Ord (near Monterey, CA) and there was nobody there except for some Army brass. Although I was not too keen on going to war in Vietnam and was not very understanding of why we were there in the first place, I did my job and would have appreciated some moral support from my fellow American citizens which was somewhat lacking except for close friends and relatives who were for the most part opposed to the war.

Please give your son, Joshua Poss, my sincerest best wishes during his military service and may God be with you and yours. Thank you for your service during the Vietnam War and welcome home, fellow Vietnam Vet!
