can you please tell me how to get rid of snails in my tropical fish tank?

Follwing a number of emails off line Richard is moving his fish to a spare tank stripping down the infested tanks to remove the snail problem. I hope he lets us know how he gets on.

snails are good cleaners. they clean the algae that sticks to the aquarium walls.
