Subject: Why do we treat apes so badly?

I just don't understand why man has to kill his closest ancestors. if evolution prevails for them as with us, then it shows that they could be intelligent like us one day, kinda like planet of the apes. when a few apes left the trees to move on and became humans...then the apes of today also have that potential, don't you think? i don't have any doubt evolution exists, it goes on today as we speak, old species die(thanks to man) and new species evolve. scientists prove this with the alarming amount of new insect species being found. are they the next ones to inherit the Earth one day?...will we end up being the large dinosaurs of their time? will we find life on other planets? if we evolved surely there could be. but then again maybe some planets did support life but died out.
