For our first lesson, I plan on using some basic bitting-up. First I put a nice, light weight western saddle and a simple bridle on the stud. I tie the outside rein to the saddle horn, and the inside rein I pull back a bit (so he has to turn his neck towards towards it) anf tie it to the back of the saddle. As soon as he learns tat keeping his neck to the side releases pressure, I ask him to move foward. We work on this a few more times, then stop.
