*Not having talked to any horse in a while. He smiles gently as he gives a childish grin.* Hi, My name is Twilight Zone. I was wondering if we could become friends.......*He doesn't talk about having her as a mate for so many have rejected him, after him being a gelding. Many mares want to have foals, and so does he, yet he was born in captivity, but his will and strength got him out. He knows he'll never have a mate, but friends will do for him....atleast that is what he tells himself. His navy blue eyes look into hers as he comes out of the shadows. They finally turn sky blue in the sun.* Why are you here alone?

I look into his pure blue eyes, for a moment I'm caught in a transe, but not want to seem like I'm staring I shake myself back into reality. "I'd love to be your friend." I stumble upon the word friend, never having a horse be so kind and not come on strongly. "I'm new here." I pause,"Haven't had much time to make friends I suppose..." I think to myself, or no one seems to want to make friends with me.... I stare at the ground, knowing that if he see's my face he might notice I'm blushing. Friend I think to myself. Why only friend? A thought occurs to me. "Do you have a mate?" I feel my face grow warm. I paw at the ground with my hoove so that way I don't have to watch him tell me that he does. Figures. Figures that I finally meet some one who seems nice and their taken!

That's rather odd... I ponder this silently a moment, He seems like a really nice guy...but then, I'm never good with taking in first impressionsI remind myself. I realize then that he'd asked about my home. "umm..." I watch the grass I've torn up from the fresh earth,"Nope...no home..kind of a loner I guess you could say." Loner? I ask myselfWith my luck he'll interprete that as freak... I smile nervously,"What about you?" Even thought the conversation has changed I keep thinking back to the previous topic. Why did he seem so mysterious? If he didn't have a mate he has to know how lonesome a horse can get...so why isn't he interested?! I begin to kick the chunk of grass around with my hoove. Maybe he has a foal and he's worried I don't like foals... I wonder, but then I realize the foal would probably be tagging along. I look at his eyes and it makes me shiver. "Kind of cold..."I comment, not wanting him to know the real cause for my sudden chill. I look back to the ground, avioding all possible eye contact.

Well, you could say I'm not one of the gals first choice.He says hiding back the pain inside.But neither was my father......You could say I'm also a loner.I notice her fidgeting, also being able to tell she wasn't cold. But I do not bring that into conversation. His blue eyes show kindness yet how the mare is acting he knows not why. It makes him laugh a bit.Are you looking for a mate?I say, but still not wanting to bring in anything about what I am. How could I? Wouldn't she laugh in my face, then leave? Even if she did, I wouldn't take it personally, I mean who wouldn't laugh at me?If your cold, do u want to move somewhere else?

I nod,"Yea, it'd be nice to get away from here"..."if you don't mind." I add. "And yes, I'm looking for a mate. I'm not really in any big rush or anything...I figure having a mate is pretty much a lifetime commitment right? So way rush forever?" I laugh a little,"So how bout you?" I drop the words into the conversation carefully, trying not to give away my curiousity. By now I've managed to not look at the ground, and surprisingly avoid getting chills when we make eye contact. I try to think of something to say. What if he's not looking for a mate? I sigh, releasing my last twinge of nervousness.

He's looking for a mate too!!!! My mind goes crazy and my heart thuds. Calm down, that doesn't mean he's going to want you! I tell myself. "So have you got someone in mind?" I ask, curious if he has someone special but just hasn't made the move to ask yet. With eyes like those, he's gotta! If he does, there goes my chance I think to myself but trying not to show my attraction, or affection for that matter. "So where are we going anyway?"

I look toward the patch of grass he'd mentioned,"OK-good. Umm" I fidget nervously just say it! I urge myself. "I guess you could say I have some one in mind." if he only knew...."Umm...Twilight..."I looked at his eyes, I shouldn't have looked at his eyes! Now I'll never be able to tell him! "Never-"I cut myself off why is it so hard to tel-ask him?! It's never been a problem before, if I was rejected, I was rejected and I just added them to the pile of "off limits". 1...2...3... "Do you want to be my mate?" The words ran into eachother and my eyes grew wide-did I really say that? I thought a moment O my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh I did! Say something-anything-please just say something! My mind reeled nervously.

I nuzzle him back before sighing all the pent up nervousness that I'd had. "You scared me there for a minute when you didn't say anything!" I laugh a little glad that the pressures off.

I finally get the word out,"I-I don't mind not having foals." I pause trying to find the words,"I didn't ask you to be my mate for foals, I asked you to be my mate for you!" Maybe that's just an excuse he's made up and he really didn't want to be my mate! "I still want to be your mate - but if you don't want to be mine, don't worry about it." I fidget,"I'm sure it won't be a problem to get rejected again."I mumble. Although I act calmly, my heart races and my eyes are like glue to him pleading him to stay. Foals?! Is that what he thinks I want?! My mind reels,"I asked because I like you - a lot..." I wait patiently praying he'll change his mind.
