My main beef with the paper isn't so much that they are not stating their source of information as being from this forum (although it would be nice if the did do that, I don't think it's problematic), it's the fact that they insist on using the quote from here as fact. I'm trying to explain this as simply as I can...
It's as if the Herald went to, let's say a Starbucks, and a woman sat down at a table next to the Herald. This person said she was Ellie Panitz and told another person at the table she was sitting at that the sky was falling. The Herald over heard that conversation and went back to the paper and wrote an article saying "Ellie Panitz stated today that the sky was falling."
Would that be fact or hearsay? They didn't ask this person for her drivers license, or any other form of ID, they just trusted the fact that this person was who she said she was. That to me, is the problematic part...understand?
