Leaning heavily on her mate, she ate hungrily, feeling her long empty stomach filling fast. Suddenly she stopped, she musn't eat too much at first or she would colic and be worse. Looking up from her meal, she smiled.

Her voice was kind, forgiving. She held no grudge against him. He had been young, as was she.

She nuzzled him gently, all of her pain and saddness that for so long had been a deining characteristic, seemed to melt away in those few moments, as she stood, leaning on her beloved, necks intertwined in an equine greeting. Looking around for her daughter, she nickered for her to come closer. Now they could be a famliy again, at last.
