Don't worry about it. If you were not, and immediately trusted anyone who was friendly, I personally would think of you either as naieve or having the wits of a snooth. May I offer a bit of advice? Don't act so nervous. Even if you are nervous, pretend to be confident, and the unsavoury people -or things- will leave you alone.
*She gives a pointed glare to a heap of dirt and rags that had been creeping closer, and casually pulls back her cloak, draping her hand on the grip of a weapon. The pile backs off, and disappears down a filthy looking passage*
