Cowboy Poem

Poem -- Kristine, 06:40:03 07/02/01 Mon

Dear Lord as I place my body
upon two thousand pounds of rage
I pray I hang on when this bull leaves the cage
As he jumps and bucks, as he rolls and spins
Give me the strength to stay upon him
He'll pull and he'll turn, going round and round
Doing all that he can to throw my body to the ground
But my rope is secured and my hat pulled down tight
So let him buck left or let him jump right
With each move he makes I'll make one of my own
Tonight is my night there's no way I'll be thrown
It's beast against man, a race against time
If I make the eight second whistle
that gold buckle will be mine
Lord, I love this life that I lead
It's become all that I eat, drink and breathe
And to you Lord I pray
give this cowboy the talent of stay
And if tonight should be my last ride
May I be remembered with hearts full of pride.
