Hattie rides in with Moondancer. The girl of 13 is wearing blue jeans, Cowboy boots with big spurs, a holster with a mighty fine pistol in it, and a Stetson cowboy hat, and a flannel shirt. As she passes a father and daughter talking to Danny she tips her hat and says,"How ya do?" then her black mare moves toward her stall and Hattie hops off while Moondancer keeps moving. Hattie untacks Moondancer and takes off her bridle, she slaps the mare on her rump and Moondancer walks into her stall. Hattie shuts the door and latches it shut. The young girl picks up the heavy saddle and sets it in the room where the tack is. She then hangs the bridle up and puts the pad next to the saddle. Hattie walks back to Moondancer's stall and gives her grain, and lifts a bale of hay into the stall. She waits for Moondancer to finish so she can let the mare into the pasture.

When she is done ,Hattie opens the stall door and leads Moondancer to the pasutre just by barely touching the mare's mane. Then she is gone into the the pasture, Hattie walks back into the barn waiting for something to do.
