Hattie walks into the room look at her hand. She looks up and sees Ruth looking at the diary. She snatches it out of her hand.
"You shouldn't read other people's thoughts. I'm surprised that a "young lady" like you should, er.. know better. After all, all snobs do." she says coldly with a grin.
