Lois, you keep forgetting that John belongs to a church that rejects the claim that the New Testament superceded the Old Testament two millenia ago, and quotes Old Testament regulations as still completely in force for Christians in order to denigrate the authority of the entire Bible.

The same technic is used in reverse to justify Islam. This uses the false assertion that the peaceful Mecca revelations were not superceded by the later violent, warlike, and hateful ones delivered after the prophet gathered together a band of robbers as Barabbas did.

The game is called "Switcheroo!"

You notice that the Old Testament provision of the "tithe," to support a professional priesthood that no longer existed after the coming of THE priest after the order of Melkizedek, is upheld by the CofC, even though it bastardizes the scripture to insist that a tithe be paid nowadays just as badly as it does to insist that no one be allowed to eat pork.

The tithe is acknowleged by Jesus as still existing prior to his crucifixion and attainment of real salvation, but nowhere do the apostles or Jesus reiterate the tithe as existing AFTER the resurrection. The only support for Christians paying tithes is found ihn the extrabiblical scriptures that the CofC told the WCC that it no longer believes in.

The CofC has no systemic method of interpreting scripture. The leadership decides ahead of time what it wants to teach and practice, and then it uses eisegesis to "find" these teachings in the Bible.

Of the passage in Job where Jehovah mocked Job by asking Job where he had been when Jehovah had created the earth, Geroge Bernard Shaw said, "That isn't an argument -- that's a sneer. And the CofC's method of twisting the bible to justify the glorification of homosesexuality is just such a sneer when it mocks Christians by violating the most fundamental rule of Bible interpretation.

I have never yet once heard a CofCer utilize the actual Christian scripture in the New Testament to justify homosexuality.
