It's all about extreme leftwing politics, Lois.
George McGovern was directly involved in a lot of the NCC agitation during the late 1960's and early 1970's. The reason his candidacy for president failed is because 1) he was running against an incumbent, and 2) there weren't enough illegal aliens and welfare recipients to vote for him.

The NCC and WCC have both been documented by the mainsreem news at providing financial assistance to marixt terrorist organizations. Small wonder that president of the church himself got tangled up in that mess, too, in the 1980's.

The NCC's position on the Ten Commandments is probably also that those should not be universalized as absolute moral teaching, either. After all, sometimes Marxist terrorists have to kill people, and "transfer wealth," and the like, and those get in the way.

My advice to those looking for a church home is to scratch off the list the names of any "denomination" belonging to the NCC, or drooling over the thought of joining. No matter how wonderful the local congregation is, it cannot help but be corporately overwhelmed by the evils that its hierarchy has embraced.

George
