Alean nods sympathetically. "They seem to like giving the trainees the stuff that they'll never have to deal with in real life, so that they're totally lost when they actually get a ship they can use." She grins then, saying, "And I doubt that I'm merely addicted to ships; they're my life. It gets tiring after a while; that's probably why I've never had a romantic encounter in my life.
"At any rate, I came here because the Tanarian government is hiring fighter pilots. I figured that I'd do better here than so close to Earth, even if it meant giving up my Arashi." She sighs in memory of her lost ship, then rips her thoughts away from the past to ask, "Why'd you come here?"
