Did some research, we haven't played Georgetown since 1980. Im surprised we haven't been able to work the Stein-Thompson or Jesuit connection. Would be a nice feature to the schedule and a relatively short trip down 95.

A number of "up games" are available. Also guarantee games where we can receive some big dollars for traveling to take a loss. Kansas comes to mind in the Fiore year's. Florida may also have been one a few year's back. Doubt the staff is interested in major upgrades although I agree schedule needs to be upgraded somewhat. Remember however, we are not far removed from 4-5 win seasons so we might wish to stay local and continue with some of the traditional rivals.

The games are there. A gradual improvement in scheduling should be the goal. We did play three Big East teams only one year back and have Rutgers and SHU for at least the next two.

I'm not saying we need a drastic overhaul, nor do I think we need to be playing the entire ACC every year. We simply can not have a non-conference strength of schedule that is 328 out of 344 and the worst in the MAAC.

I propose we schedule three games every year like this: One against a Big East team not based in New Jersey, one against an Atlantic 10 team, one against a team from the ACC, SEC, Big 10, Big 12 or Pac 10 (or perennial top-25 team like Memphis and Gonzaga).

Add that to our usual mix of Seton Hall, Monmouth, a Patriot League team, a few other NECs and we'd have a respectable schedule. Plus, we need to dump NJIT. It's sorta like Henry Hill. You know why those kids carried his mom's groceries all the way home from the store? It was outta respect. Part of becoming a respectable program is playing a respectable schedule.

This is purely anecdotal, but I'm just going to throw it out there anyway. Of my friends and coworkers who know I'm a fan of SPC hoops, every year when the season rolls around they ask one common question. It never fails. I'm asked this multiple times every November: "Do you play anyone good this year?"
