Although they show brief flashes, neither Bacon nor Costner are ready to contribute much right now. Neither is ANY offensive threat. Gooding is what he is at the "3".
It is tough for any club to win when neither their "3" or "4" can score....or handle. I guess we are no exception.
We caught Marist sleepwalking in the first half, undoubtedly down after a brutal loss to arch rival Siena Friday night in a classic MAAC game. As mentioned above, once Marist came out to defend in the second half, we could not score....we probably had 12 points in the first 15 minutes of the second half.
Silver lining for me was Darrell looking to pass even more. Great ability to penetrate off the dribble, ray of hope today he may be coming around, which is essential for any success next season....although is jumper is just not there yet. To be good next season we'll also need a quantum leap for Bacon and Costner AND points AND rebounds up front from Conley...a lot to ask.
If Dunne wants to increase his chances to keep his job, he'd be well served looking for a ready-right-now player up front (JC?). I am afraid our front line might be two years away, which might not be soon enough for JD.
