He appeared asd a clone. He looked just like the thirty other techs manning the stations in Doppler's situaion room. Doppler smiled. "Good. We do something right for once." "Uh, there's one problem sir?" ,another tech cut in. Doppler winced, and spun on his heel. "Bad timing ensign. What is your report?" The tech hesitated. "Our scout team has just reached the island sir." "And?", Doppler asked with a weighty tone. "They have completed a thorough scan of the area and found nothing. Sir, it looks like the island has been deserted for some time!" Another tech asked him, "Your orders sir?" "Turn the task force around. Priority one is base security. Inform me when everyone returns. We go to the next phase of our operation." "Sir. We have recalculated the origin of the initial attack sir." "What? I didn't order that! Why you do that?", Doppler asked. "I don't know sir. But I could have sworn the attack came from that island. Now sir, it seems that the tracking point is....well?" "What is it? Speak up man!" "Sir. Its coming from the moon!" "The moon?" Doppler asked. "There is an astronomical difference between the moon, and that stupid island we just glassed. Ensign, are you sure about this?" "Well sir, the tracking system appears to have picked up a slight flutter. I can't explain it sir." "Did we get his Earth Island Base?" "By the looks of it sir." "Then we've given him no where to run." Doppler thought for a moment. "Do we have any craft capable of achieving escape velocity?" "No sir, but what about the fleet?", a crewman asked him. "What?", Doppler replied. "The Hammerhead's sir. The ships we stole from Repliforce. Don't they fly in space?" "Well they do, but I thought we ordered them all to self destruct in Mars orbit?" "We did sir.", the crewman replied. "So did they?" "I'll check sir. I have their frequencies here." Doppler tossed the idea around in his head. If there was a ship left it might give him an edge!
