"Sonic Blade, I'd hate to ask you this, because I already know what you're going to say, but..."
"You want me to stay behind, is that it Zero?", He asked.
"You already know the reason also, don't you?"
"Is this something you have to do alone? Or are you just trying to protect me?"
"Maybe it is a little of both, and maybe it is neither. I can't explain. I just FEEL it. I feel strange here. Restless! I don't think you should follow. Only get everyone you can muster, and gaurd the exits."
"Why do you ask me this?", Sonic Blade sounded concerned.
"Someone needs to gaurd our escape, if we ever plan to leave here alive."
Sonic Blade looked somber, and shook his head in despair.
"Alright Zero. Be careful! My frequency is 104.85!"
"Wait a second....there's a message on my comm-link.", Zero looked surprised. "Huh, mine too!", Sonic Blade added, "It is a priority one transmission from Mav Hunter HQ."
"Attention all Hunters, this is an executive order. All forces retreat to fall back positions. Return to Hunter Base immediately! Threat level is increasing, and an attack on our facility is imminent. The strike force sent to Doppler's island has been anihalated! Mega Man X, and IO are missing, and feared dead. Zero! Where are you? We need you!"
"Oh-mi-gosh!", Sonic Blade gasped. "We don't have time for this anymore Zero!" Zero was ripped apart by grief, and confusion. He let out a cry of frustration, and slammed his fist into the wall.! "DAMMIT!" ,he yelled.
"What do we do now Zero?", SB asked.
"I still have a mission to complete. Get everyone else the hell out of here. Order a full retreat, and get back to the shuttle."
"What are you going to do?"
"I'm going to end this battle....even if I have to do it alone! (to be continued...)
