Hi Det!

I bet David had fun playing with those Rockem Sockem Robots when he was little. They even featured that toy on that "Toy Story" Oscar segment. That must have brought back some fond memories for David.

Those audio clips were fantastic weren't they? The printed interview takes on an entirely different feel when you hear it in stereo. ;-) I liked that segment too where Gillian recalls that his trailer chair was his first purchase. I want to see this chair! Also Gillian knew the brand name of his infamous purple Emmy suit. This demonstrates that they know alot about each other.

That segment where David talks about the "private David" versus the "public David" was interesting too. How he will joke around about things during interviews, but in actuality he takes things pretty seriously and worries about what people think about him.

I got the feeling we were hearing the "private David" in this interview. He spoke quietly and took the time to contemplate the questions. Gillian did a good job as an interviewer by not interrupting David's thought processes during the pauses. Barbara Walters would be proud! :-)

I liked his comment that his and Gillian's relationship was like the tangled roots of a tree. It sounds like they have a strong relationship, regardless of what others might think. Not everyone could get along as well as they do after working so closely together for seven years!

I bet that David is already receiving a whole bunch of jade elephants gifts, even though he was only joking about wanting them! One day David can tell Madelaine (or West as Gillian called her) the story about why her dad has such a vast jade elephant collection. ;-)
