Subject: Cute radio interview with DD on Vancouver station...(Spolier fe for everyone to read)

They do talk about a scene from Return to Me but it's near the beginning of the movie.

DJ #1: And it's like having an old friend for dinner, as the Z Morning Crew welcomes back to the show a long-time favourite of ours, a former resident of Vancouver, it's...it's...it's that Duchovny guy! What's, what's his name?

DD: Uh, it's David.

DJs: Oh...yeah... [announcers begin to laugh]
All three DJs in unison: Hi David!

DD: Well, it's nice to get laughs just by saying my name.
DJ #1: Yeah...just tickled pink. Let it be known right off the bat - we miss you here!

DD: Ah, I miss Vancouver. How is it up there?

DJ #1: Well, it's lovely, but you know, there is a void. No X-Files shooting all over town. And quite frankly David, we miss stories from people who just wanted to call up and talk about your big, long, disgustingly large cof-fee habit at Starbucks. [announcers laugh in background]

DD: I only went to the same Starbucks every day - the same one! - it's the
one on the, the one in, uh, Point Grey Road.

DJ #2: Yeah, right across from Malone's, right there on Cornwall, right across from Kits Beach.

DD: That's the one. I needed that afternoon pick-me-up.

DJ #1: Do you need one right now, or are you going to be okay? [It was
7:00am in the morning, so David sounded kind of groggy. :)]

DD: I just got one!

DJ #1: Oh good. Okay. [announcers laugh] We want talk to you about a couple things. Of course, the movie "Return to Me." Can we just say congratulations?

DJs: Yeah! Awesome! [announcers cheer and applaud]

DJ #2: Finally a chance for you to ditch that trenchcoat and tie, stick on the v-neck sweaters and the polo shirts, huh?

DD: Ha ha ha ha. Uh, it felt good.

DJ #1: We had the Z premiere a couple weeks back, and, uh, don't mind telling you one bit, thought that it was very charming, it truly was.

DD: Did you weap like a baby?

DJ #2: That's what he's trying to tell you, ever so quietly. [announcers
snicker in background]

DD: He can't quite admit it, can he?

DJ#1: Uh, you know what, I will admit it. There's a couple of really powerful scenes in there, including the one where you come home from the hospital devastated.

DD: Yeah.

DJ #1: And you and your dog Mel.

DD: I think it's a great movie. It's got a lot of tears and a lot of laughs.

DJ #1: That scene, though, totally, it was very, very heartwrenching. Um, like I'm trying to think afterwards how you conjured that up.

DD: Yeah, those are like the tricks of the trade, you know? I mean,
that's, that's what makes it a fun job and why you'd never want to tell anyone exactly what you were working.

DJ #1: You didn't have an onion in your hand, did ya?

DD: Ah, well possibly, or a pin in my thigh, or something.

DJ #1: Sheesh... No, it was really good. We were also wondering how many takes you had to do on that.

DJ #2: Yeah, gaffers wackie-talkie going off in the background and there you are... "Oh wait! No! We need that again!"

DD: You've had [laughs], you've had some experience on the sets.

DJ #1: No.

DD: I think we just did two. I mean for me, the way I work, it's really I
either get it or I don't, on like the first couple, so, um, 'cause then you're just trying to like recreate what you've already done, and I feel like an idiot when I'm doing that ...so I think we did two. It's the first movie I've done in a while that I really think works, and it's just really
- I don't know! - it's just great to be in a good film, as stupid as that sounds. [he laughs]

DJ #1: Well here's to being in a film that works.

DD: Well, I appreciate that, and you know what, I'm going to say this now,
if we ever do another X-Files movie, you know where I want to shoot it?

DJ #1: LA?
Announcers and David: No!

DJ #1: Vancouver?

DD: Coming home!

DJs: Yeah! [applause]

DJ #1: Actually, I've heard you, uh, have been talking about that, that you may come up here to shoot that.

DD: Well, there's no plans to actually shoot that movie, but I would love
to get the old crew together and to spend three months up there. That'd be beautiful.

DJ #2: Well, you know David, we'd like to bring a little piece of Vancouver back to you. We've got the Z morning crew's version of "This is your life," coming up in, in just a little bit of a second. You just want to hang on for just a moment?

DD: Yeah, what is that exactly?

DJ #1: We'll explain that to you. This is where you have to wait.

DD: Ha ha! Okay. Go ahead.
[Songs and advertisements]

DJ #1: This is the Z Morning Crew, and making a rare guest appearance... [in a low, mock-menacing voice] David Duchovny. [In the background: Yeah! applause] Hanging out on the Z lines we hope here - are you still there?

DD: Yeah, I'm here.

DJ #1: You know, we thought we would bring back some fond memories that you had while you were in Vancouver.

DD: Okay.

DJ #1: It was, uh, five great years, wasn't it?

DD: [carefully enuciated] Yes.

DJ #1: Yeah, it's a long time. Uh, what we'd like to do this morning is welcome you to the show with our own Z Morning Crew version of [all three in unison] "This is your life."

DD: Ha ha ha.

DJ #2: David, you remember the fifth season of The X-Files, you were in the GVRD [Greater Vancouver Regional District] shooting an episode called "Detour"?

DD: Yes.

DJ #1: Do you?

DD: Yes! [sounds excited]

DJ #1: In that episode there was a Florida State Trooper that leads you to a character named Officer [David in background: Yes!] Fazekas [David again: Yes!]. When you walk forward it looks like he takes a good look at your butt. Do you remember that akward screen moment?

DD: [pause] Not specifically, but I remember the episode! [sounds
apologetic, but laughing]

DJ #1: Well, that same Trooper is actually working for us now. He's Nick the Guy and he's in here with us.

Nick: Good morning David.

DD: Well, why'd you look at my ass like that? [everyone laughing]

Nick: Well, I didn't! It just ended up looking like I looked at your ass.

DD: So you were just kind of looking down and happened to be my ass was in
the area?

Nick: Yeah, it just happened to be that way.

DD: Are you saying I got a big ass?

Nick: No! Not at all! I was, you know I was trying to learn, I went
through the school of ass acting [David laughs], and I was just trying to learn from that.

DJ #2: It's like Joey on friends, smell the ass acting, is that it?

Nick: Exactly.

DD: That's Stella Assler? [laughs]

DJ #1: Do you want to go on? Can you shut those taps off from your eyes for just a second and pull it back together?

DD: [Mock-crying] Okay, okay.

DJ #1: Okay. Now how 'bout that famous episode five x eighteen called "The Pine Bluff Variant"?

DD: Oh yeah.

DJ #2: Where there was this amazing shot of you when you said, "If you touch me again you'll have to kill me," and then this skinhead proceeds to break your left little finger.

DD: You've got the skinhead there?

DJ #3: No... [laughing]

DJ #1: No, we've down better than that! With our massive research department, we have tracked down the guy who's finger really was broken instead of yours. It's your hand double Glen Barwhite (?). [cheers and applause]

Glen: Hey David.

DD: Hey Glen, how are you?

Glen: Not too bad. I'm not sure you actually remember me, but, uh...

DD: How's the hand?

Glen: Uh, it's recovering.

DD: That guy would go a little overboard wouldn't he?

Glen: Yeah, well eighteen takes of that on second unit was a little rough.
I actually needed that bandage for the next two episodes that they had you
wearing (and me too).

DD: [laughs] Well, God, just all the memories are flooding back!

DJ #1: [laughing] Well come back and make that movie, would you?

DD: Is that it? That's all? [he sounds surprised]

DJ #1: [laughing] Okay, we did a little bit of research, okay?

DD: That's it?

DJ #1: Yeah.

DJ #2: Yeah, we didn't do a lot, we said we did a little bit.

DD: "Five x eighteen." I love that. [laughing] That's really cool.

DJ #1: Uhhh... David Duchovny. [applause]

DJ #2: "Return to Me" in theatres now. It's a great film. Thank you for joining us.

DJ #1: Go see it - it's totally sweet. Give our best to your lovely wife Tea and to your family, okay?

Glen: And happy anniversary.

DD: My best to the fair city of Vancouver, my love, and I miss you all.

You know what I liked best? David saying he remembers the ep Detour! Of course it's not particularly the ep he remembers but the person who is named after it. ;-) I can divulge no more!
