Subject: FORUM UPGRADE:EVERYONE PLEASE READ!

Hi All!

The upgrade that Voy forums has been working on is now online! You may have stumbled across a few of the changes already but here's a rundown of what's new:

1. The archives: When a page is full the whole thing will no longer completely disappeaer into the archives. Yay! I know this was annoying for a lot of people, including me, who would post a new message only to have it archived shortly after.
Now, the posts will be archived one by one with the oldest, inactive message going into the archive, keeping all newer, active posts on the board! A good thing!

2. You can now reply to archived posts. If you are reading posts in the archives and decide you want to reply to one you can do so. And when you reply, this will automatically bring that old thread back onto the main active page where it's sure to be seen! :-)

3. Confirmation of your message. When you posted a message you were able to see how it would look on the board, but now you have the ability to make changes, correct typos etc. before posting. Another good thing!

4. Previous message in reply. I now have the ability to take out the option where the previous message in the post someone replies to is in your message. I decided to do that. I didn't think most people used it and most either had to take the time to delete it anyway or just left it there. Note: This is an option I thought worked best but if others liked having the previous post there let me know. I can always change it back to how it was before. You can also copy and paste the message into your own if you want to quote from it.

5. Threads with a new reply get put up to the top! Another really good feature, I think. Now, if someone replies to a thread further down the page, it will be moved up to the top. This is good so that the author of the thead can know that there is a new reply to his/her message and also we can all see new replies to older threads that might otherwise have been missed if they were further down the page.

An unused option: One option I could have used was to allow everyone to post a new thread from the archives. This would bring that new message onto the main page. I really couldn't see the benefit for this. We can reply to archived posts now but I didn't see why posting a new thread while on an archived page was needed so I didn't put it in. But if anyone wants it it's easy to change so let me know.

OK those are the changes I've sorted out so far! It's a bit confusing and I hope everyone understands my rambling here. :-) If you have any questions, please ask. Voy says there will be more new features on the way (I'm still hoping for those smileys!).

There have been reports of bugs in the system so if anyone finds anything that isn't working right please email me and let me know. :-) And if anyone disagrees with any of the changes and wants a different option let me know that too. I just went with the options I thought worked best for now.
