You're right, languages are funny. I find it really interesting to hear the different expressions from all the different English-speaking countries. I think if I typed all my normal sayings most people wouldn't understand but that's not a problem because I can't spell most of the "Scottish" words I use.

It can also be quite amusing sometimes. eg. across here, fag is a slang word for a cigarette but in America I beleive it has quite a different meaning ;-)
