Subject: XF-related stuff in "Newsweek"

I just got my "Newsweek" in the mail today and found a couple of X-Filey things in in it.
The first was a review of a new movie called "The Mothman Prophecies", starring Richard Gere. It sounded *very* much like the season five XF ep, "Detour" right, down to the fact that the review says Gere and his co-star, Laura Linney, "dance around the edges of a romance". I thought this was weird for a couple of reasons. One, isn't DD supposed to resemble Gere, or vice versa? I know there was a comment in "Hollywood, A.D." about Gere playing the screen version of Mulder. Also, they said the movie was based on a non-fiction book of the same title detailing alleged reports of a moth-like creature in the 1960s. I know the events of XF's pilot ep were supposed to be "based on actual events", but I thought from there on out they were all completely fictional. But this would seem to indicate that "Detour" was at least partially based on events that were chronicled in a non-ficiton book.
The other X-Filey item was a mention of a new host for the kids TV series "Blue's Clues". The beginning of the item said: "It's never pretty to watch a TV show try to move on after its star leaves. Look at the post-Duchovny "X-Files" or "Baywatch" without the unique talents of Pamela Anderson".
