That really is very sweet of him and it's a very nice picture, too!
Do you know anything else about his personal life? I didn't even know he was married! Do they have kids?
I read on some other XF site that Tom Braidwood (Frohike) has a couple of daughters and one of them had a bit part in an XF ep.
The only "fan letter" I ever wrote in my entire life was to an author named Elizabeth Cadell. She wrote these kind of old-fashioned mystery-romance type books that were mostly published in the 1950s but I discovered, read and loved them when I was a teen in the 70s. She wrote me back a very nice letter in sweet, old-lady type handwriting.
