What's with using the same name in a movie and in an XFile episode?

While watching the movie "The Whole 9 yards" with Bruce Willis tonight, the name Gogolack (Spelling?) kept coming up. It took a while to remember where I had heard it before. Then it hit me--Arcadia! Anybody know which came first? I wonder if there are rules against using the same name like that.
