Subject: Getting into the FBI. . .

I pulled this tidbit out of a longer article about the FBI that I came across on the AP wire.

The bureau continues to see a surge in applicants sparked by the Sept. 11 attacks, with around 50,000 applications each year for 1,200 new special agent jobs, said Jim Trinka, FBI assistant director for training and development. Officials said that figure is 15,000 above what they received in the years preceding Sept. 11.

Okay, even considering that Mulder and Scully were supposed to have joined the FBI long before 9/11, that still means they were among 1,200 recruits selected from about 35,000 applicants in the year they each went through the Academy. Pretty impressive, huh?
