Why is everybody acting like. . .???

I've read quite a few posts, both on these boards and from my fanfic list, that act as if it has been carved in stone that: 1.) There *WILL* be a ninth season of XF and 2.) Mulder/DD will *NOT* be in any of the ninth season eps.
Did I miss something??? Because, the last I heard, XF was considered "on the bubble" as far as whether or not Fox would even choose to renew it for next season. Also, the last interview I read with DD on the subject (granted, this was several months ago) he was actually sounding kind of positive about the idea of doing "a few" XF eps next year if it's renewed for a ninth season. He continues to express a desire to play Mulder in any and all future XF movies and I think he's savvy enough to realize it's to his advantage to keep the character "alive" by having him make an occasional appearance in the TV show, at least as long as Scully is in it.
If there's a tenth season of XF I sincerely doubt that we'll see any appearances from DD *OR* GA. But why does everybody keep acting like season nine is going to be Mulderless instead of only Mulderlite??
