I don't know why they cut it but if you are able to watch the whole thing--pretty much in order, you will see that the overall plot has more of an ending-point than XFiles. The program is pretty gloomy in most of the episodes. There aren't too many ones that I can remember (other than a Christmas one which is my favorite) that significantly lighten up the general doomsday message. However, I did enjoy watching the series, looking for actor cross-overs, etc. XFiles is still my favorite TV series.
