I've heard that Robert Patrick will be joining the cast. However, I've heard he will not really be Scully's "partner" (in the sense that she and Mulder were partners) but more like an agent from another division who occassionally assists her. I've also read there will be only 20 (instead of the standard 22) eps this season and David Duchovny will be in 11 of them. So Mulder will be in over half the episodes, which really isn't too bad.
A couple of things I wonder about:
1.) Why, after refusing for years to expand Skinner's role and bump Mitch Pileggi up to the status of third lead, has Chris Carter suddenly brought in this new guy but kept Skinner in a supporting role? We've all heard about the feud between CC and DD. But does CC have something against MP as well?
2.) Considering that except for Scully virtually everyone else on "The X-Files" (i.e. Mulder, Skinner, Krycek, all three Gunmen, CSM, etc. etc. etc.) is a white male was it really absolutely neccessary to cast another white male for this part? Would it not have been *REMOTELY* possible for CC to find either an actress or a minority actor to join the show?
