There are people who I think will just hate DD's perfromance no matter what he does. Some of these DD bashers couldn't possibly have liked the movie because I'm sure they go in so set to NOT like it and that's what happens.

Would you believe I got into little thing with someone on the Fox boards who had been posting that the movie "sucked" and DD "couldn't act his way out of a paper bag" and then...get this! The person admitted they hadn't even seen the movie!? Oh, I was so steamed! I really told him/her off! They never replied back after that. I seem to scare a lot of people away over there. ;-)

I think the sobbing scene was just too early in the film for me. Also one thing that didn't work IMO was that I didn't see any real chemistry between Bob and his wife. Did you think they seemed like a good match? They didn't really seem to click for me and we didn't get to know her so it was hard to get too emotional over her death. But later on I did start to feel for him just because of how he was reacting to it. I mean I liked the scene with him getting mad at the dog because he wouldn't eat in the kitchen and then how Bob reacted when the dog made it halfway. I also seem to be much more affected by DD"s he his eyes are just a bit misty rather than full out crying. I talked about this on the Mulder board. We have a thread about it there too! Come and visit! :-)

LOL on your boss. I guess that's why men don't like these kind of movies. The men are presented as too perfect! But I don't think Bob was necessarily so. We caught him at a very vulnerable point in his life. Who knows, when Grace gets to know him better she will probably find out about all kinds of annoying habits he has that drive her crazy! My guess is she will overlook them though! :-)
