I agree that we had no evidence that Mulder was the type who played around a lot. Quite the contrary; he seems to have been able to live a celibate lifestyle for years at a time. Other than the assumed one-night stand in "3", all his sexual encounters seem to have taken place in the context of loving relationships. (Well, loving on his part, at least. Other than Scully, I'm not sure that any of the women he was "involved" with ever loved him back.)
I think even his porn habit, in a way, is a proof of this. He's a very good-looking man who lives in a major metropolitan area. If he was interested in casual sex, all he'd have to do was walk into a singles bar and the odds are better than even that he would have walked out with a "partner" for the evening. But he didn't want just *any* partner; he wanted *HIS* partner.
