Subject: "Two Fathers/One Son"

Since these were both parts of a two-part episode, I watched them together. However, I think they might as well have been two completely separate episodes as far as my reaction to them went. "Two Fathers" is actually very good. We have Mulder, Scully and Skinner working together to figure out what is really going on, while CSM, Krycek and Jeff Spender are trying to make trouble. Cassandra is wonderful as a woman who is conflicted between her responsiblities to the whole human race and her specific, personal responsiblity to her son. Plus, "TF" has those great Mulder basketball scenes!
"One Son" could just as easily have been titled "Mulder Behaves Like a Complete Jerk". It's mostly got Mulder -- after *years* of telling Scully "You're the ONLY one I trust" -- suddenly deciding that he trusts Fowley just as much as he does Scully!! When his partner, who has stood beside him for nearly six years, is telling him one thing and it contradicts what some chick who he did the Naked Pretzel with for a couple of months several years ago is telling him, he suddenly can't decide which one of them he should believe! I'm big Mulderlover, but I spent most of this ep wanting to jump through the TV and slap him. The only thing I liked about it was the end, where Spender actually behaved like a decent human being and Mulder and Scully got the X-Files back.
