Subject: "Signs and Wonders"

Just rewatched this and reached and insight that I don't remember anybody mentioning when it was originally broadcast. The snake handling preacher kept saying things to Mulder and Scully like "You're not sure yourselves what side you're on, but I know where you stand with the Lord".
Until the very end of the ep, everybody assumed this preacher was the bad guy and his ambiguous statements meant that he was judging M&S and finding them wanting. Since it turned out that he was actually the good guy, I think his statements, odd though they were, were actually meant to reassure our dynamic duo. . .this guy *knew* that M&S were on the side of the angels.
