Subject: "Tempus Fugit/Max"

I was watching "Tempus Fugit/Max" the other night and was struck by a couple of things in re Agent Pendrell. First of all, after he was shot and Scully ripped open his shirt to look at his wound and hollered for somebody to call for an ambulance, she left him and went running off after the guy who had shot him. Now, for the average FBI agent, I can understand that it might make more sense to go charging after an armed and dangerous suspect than to stay with a dying colleague. But Scully is a medical doctor! Wouldn't common sense and human compassion dictate that she should have stayed with Pendrell until the paramedics arrived, trying to save his life??
The second thing is. . .for a guy whose main role in XF was that of "science geek" he certainly had a nice chest!
