Almost everybody here seems to have a love/hate relationship with CC, don't we??
CC has admitted that the reason he cast the then *completely* unknown GA as Scully, rather than the better-known actress the FOX execs wanted as the female lead, was that DD and GA had great "chemistry" together. And, of course, he created the characters and he made them a man and a woman, both unmarried and close in age. If all he wanted to do was "tell scary stories" he could have made his leads two men, two women, a middle-aged woman and a young married man, or any other combination. . .making them a single man and a single woman, then casting two of the most attractive people on the face of the planet in the roles, was an *obvious* ploy to get people to watch for the sexual tension as well as the fear factor.
I'm glad some other people have dug out their season two DVDS or tapes! BTW, I've written a fanfic set during season two (sort of an *alternate* alternate universe to the fics I usually write) it's clean (by my standards) so if anybody wants to read it, just e-mail me and let me know.
