Subject: "Firewalker" and "Red Museum"

I realize that a lot of people disliked "Firewalker" because it was derivative of season one eps like "Ice" and "Darkness Falls". . .but that's the exact reason I enjoyed it. After eight Scullyless or Scullylite eps, it was great to see M&S back working a classic X-File together again. This isn't usually mentioned among the shipper-intensive eps, but Mulder's tenderness and protectiveness toward Scully -- especially in the scene where he gently touches her neck to check for signs of the parasite -- are pretty evocative of the way the MSR changed due to her abduction. I also like the "twist" on the X-File itself; the one member of the team that M&S had originally assumed was crazy was actually the only sane, uninfected person left. Plus, Mulder just looks *very* yummy in the jeans he wore throughout this ep.
"Red Museum" is usually hailed as one of the better season two eps -- I know a lot of people have it on their top ten all-time eps list -- and the X-File itself is intriguing. Plus we've got all the classic elements of an XF ep. . .a small town where something weird is going on, locals anxious to cover it up, a sheriff's son gone bad. . .and, in a vague kind of way, it's almost as much of a mytharc ep as a stand alone MOTW ep. But I like it mostly for the scene where M&S are eating barbecue.
