I watched these two episodes this morning. I had forgotten how much I liked them. I definitely like Redux II better than Redux I, though they're both good. Redux I has all of those overly dramatic voice overs that I can't stand, but I'm particularly fond of the historical overlays when Michael Kritshgau is talking about the history of government sponsored belief in UFOs.

One thing bothers me every time I watch Redux, though, and that's the ease with which Mulder gets into that very high security Department of Defense building. That would NEVER happen. I know it needed to because of plot purposes, but I spent a lot of time in secure places and none of them, especially one as highly secure as that one, would let someone into the building based solely on a card swipe. Different secure government buildings require a card swipe and a four digit pin which changes periodically, or a card swipe with visual picture confirmation by guards, or even a thumbprint (which is my favorite). But for the very reason that allowed Mulder to enter the building, it's never JUST a card swipe. Nitpicky, I know, but every time it gets on my nerves.

I agree that it's very tense not knowing what's happening with Skinner. The thing that always struck me was that Scully was the one SO convinced that Skinner was dirty while Mulder trusted him, when Mulder is generally the least trusting and has had the most trouble with Skinner in the past. What I never understood was HOW that bad guy knew to shoot Blevins as soon as he left the boardroom.

I think my favorite part of the two episodes was when Mulder tells Skinner that Scully has gone into remission. The look of joy and relief and almost disbelief is priceless, and DD plays is so well. It almost makes up for the horrendous crying.
