Subject: Real-life "Rain King" situation

I thought everybody here might get a kick out of this: remember how in "Rain King" the man hooked up with the woman he'd been in love with since high school at their 20th reunion?
Well, I went to my 20th reunion over the summer. One of my friends from h.s., Frances, had a *huge* crush on a guy named David when we were in h.s., but they never dated or anything; you know how it is when you're in your teens: different social circles and all that jazz. Well, Frances never married; I don't think she was holding out for David, she was just very career-oriented during her 20s and early 30s and by the time she reached the point where she was ready to settle down, most guys in her age group were already married. At the reunion she spent a lot of time talking with David, who is now divorced. I just got a Christmas card from her and she and David have been dating steadily since the reunion!
Here's an extra kicked for us X-Philes: David's last name also begins with "D" and he even looks a bit like David Duchovny. I mean, nowhere near as good-looking, of course, (in real life, you *rarely* encounter a man who is "Hollywood Handsome") but that same *type* of looks. . .tall and dark-haired.
On as somewhat related issue, one of the minor reasons I've always enjoyed XF is that Mulder and Scully are both so close to my own age. It seemed that back when I was in my 20s almost all the TV shows (i.e. "Moonlighting", "thirtysomething," "LA Law", etc.) were about people in their 30s; everybody was seven or eight years older than me. Then, just about the time I turned 30, suddenly all the TV shows were about people in their 20s (i.e. "Friends", "Melrose Place", etc.), where everybody was seven or eight years younger than me. XF is one of the few shows where I've been able to identify with the main characters on a generational level.
