She went out with the guy in Jersey Devil once and when he called again she turned him down. He was too average for her and she preferred spending her time with Mulder.

I think Scully was drawn to Padgett for a time. Rewmember when she went to his apartment and sat with him on his bed? It could be though that he was controlling her with his book.

I guess "weirdo" isn't the right word for Mulder. He IS a great guy. I just mean that he's out of the ordinary. definately not boring or run of the mill. He also has a lot of personal baggage.
