Subject: Reggie was his boss

When Mulder was working in Violent Crimes. I think he was referred to as his ASAC. You probably know that SAC is Special Agent in Charge because I remember we were discussing that before about Mulder being the SAC on the Robeert Modell return case. I forget what the first A stands for but I think that Regie's postion was higher up than just an SAC who is put in charge of a particular case. I think Reggie was Mulder's supervisor for more than just one case because remember in The Unusual Suspects Mulder called Reggie at one point to check in.

I had to look up Grotesque at the episode guide for a reminder on that character. His name was Agent Bill Patterson and was one of Mulder's instructors. He may have been his boss but only on that particular case and Patterson was the SAC for it. He and Mulder didn't get along well because Mulder disagreed with Paterson's approach in dealing with serial killers.

I think Skinner is higher up than Reggie was as an Assistant Director. And Deputy Director Kersh outranks Skinner. The head honcho is of course the FBI Director. But since that is a real person they wouldn't have him be a fake character on the show. I think they want to portray some sense of reality with the FBI. But I think there are several Assistant Directors in the Bureau so they can get away with having a fictional one.
