While I know that *YOU* know, det, I'll go ahead and spell it out for anybody who might be reading this thread and doesn't know me all that well: My number one beef was that they didn't allow Mulder and Scully's personal relationship to develop in a normal, realistic-timeframe, manner.
It was fine (refreshing, actually, compared to all the TV shows and movies that have people jumping into bed with each other within a month of when they first meet) that they spent the first season as merely professional colleagues and the second season becoming close friends. But by late season three it was quite *obvious* that there was a mutual romantic attraction between them and, since neither of them was "involved" with anyone else, I think sometime in late season three or early season four would have been the natural time for them to have begun a romantic/sexual relationship with each other. Having the "tease" go on for another four seasons was very frustrating!
