the show wouldn't have made it through a full first season, much less *nine* seasons as a TV show, plus a feature film and more movies in the offing! I think I've mentioned before, on the off-topic board, that *EVERYTIME* I begin watching a new show with the first ep, it gets cancelled within 7 or 8 eps!!
My brother was an original viewer and he asked me not to watch XF until it became a hit! Which was okay, anyway, because I had a baby, plus two other young children, when the show began and was lucky to find time to brush my teeth on a daily basis back then, never mind watching any TV who more intellectually challenging then "Sesame Street".
I began watching about midway through season four. Luckily for me, they began rerunning the season one and two eps on Saturday nights a couple of weeks after I started watching and with the long hiatus between seasons four and five, I was able to catch up on seasons one and two (on Saturday nights) and all of season four (on Sunday nights) and was a confirmed X-Phile by the time season five began.
