Grew up in the Boston suburbs, now I live in New York City. But suburbs are suburbs every where across this great land of ours. Having a major city a short distance away was helpful for me to see another way of living. I spent some summers in Maine and boy is that rural!

If I'm mindlessly watching, unplanned & without a TV guide, I usually look in on CNN for new news or the educational channels for a documentary on something interesting. Then it comes down to total surfing which can kill an afternoon and make you feel you're wasting your life. Thank goodness my wife's around to drag me away from there.
