This ep was much better than I remembered it being!! I know a lot of people consider it one of the great classic eps but, for some reason, it didn't "grab" me the first time I saw it. I enjoyed it a lot more this time around.
Things I liked:
1.) IMHO, this was the first ep where Mulder looked *REALLY* sexy!! Of course, he always looks good, but I think I've commented before that he got more attractive as the years went by. This definitely a "wish I could reach
into the TV and rip his clothes off" ep. I think it was partially because he spent so much the ep in a black leather jacket and blue jeans, instead of his habitual suit and tie.
2.) This was also the first ep where Mulder and Scully seemed completely and totally comfortable with each other.
I especially liked the scene where she came into his
hotel room and started rooting around the refrigerator. It
indicated a level of familiarity with each other that wasn't
present during the early days of their partnership.
3.) I liked the part where Max Fening had the seizure
and Mulder wanted to take him to the hospital and Max
explained that when you have epilepsy, you learn to live withit. My high school boyfriend had epilepsy, a really
severe case, and we used to go through this a lot. Whenever
he had a seizure in public anybody who wasn't familiar
with him -- waitresses or bystanders or whatever --
wanted to call an ambulance. I spent a *LOT* of time
explaining that this was a common occurrance for him
and that he couldn't go to the hospital every time he
had a seizure.
