Subject: "all things"

This was the XF rerun ep on our local FOX affiliate tonight. (Don't ask me why they jumped from season one eps to season seven eps. I'm just glad they're runing them again, as the past three weeks they had either movies or football, instead of XF.) Anyway, I was struck by two things, one which I mentioned (probably ad nauseum) when the ep first aired and one which I only "caught" this time around.
The first, obvious thing: it still blows my mind that anybody -- even the most dedicated, diehard noromo -- could have watched that teaser scene, with Mulder sleeping naked in his bed and Scully zipping up her skirt in his bathroom, and argued that they *hadn't* made love the night before!! I mean it's just *SO* obvious that they had!! But I guess people believe what they want to believe. (I have a friend who gave birth to a seven-pound baby seven months after she got married and her mother still refers to the child as having been born "prematurely" rather than accept the obvious fact that her daughter wasn't a virgin bride.)
The second, more subtle thing: did anybody notice the movie Mulder had on as he was talking to Scully while he packed? I don't know the name of it, but it was an old-fashioned romantic movie. The dialogue was something about "how could I ever leave you?" or along those lines. Seems an odd choice, under normal circumstances, for a man to choose to watch alone in his own apartment and I think it was a clue (for those who needed something beyond Mulder being naked) as to the changing nature of the MSR.
