Strangely enough, despite the fact that I'm the world's biggest shipper and this was the "consummation ep" that I'd waited *years* for, it really isn't one of my all time fave eps. I mostly like just the beginning and end parts, where she is with Mulder. But then, of course, the Mulder/Scully interaction is what I *always* like best about any ep of XF. . .I never like Mulderless/Mulderlite or Scullyless/Scullylite eps.
I also *TOTALLY* agree that the whole Buddhist temple thing was much more in keeping with GA's beliefs than with Scully's. It wouldn't have been such a big deal if they'd kept with the original (seasons 1-4) characterization of Scully as person who'd been raised Catholic, but wasn't much of a believer as an adult. However, since several season 5 eps -- "Redux/Redux II" and the one with the priest and Emily's ghost (forgot the name) -- made it pretty clear she'd re-embraced her Catholic faith, I thought it was utterly odd.
